What's In A Name?

For those of you who've been waiting with bated breath, I'm pleased to be able to announce that Margaret in Minnesota has chosen her "blogging" name, and it is:

Margaret.

To some of us, of course, she's still "Minnesota Mom." No matter what name, sobriquet, nickname, appellation, aptronym or pseudonym she ever chooses.

My breath may have been bated, but I hope not baited :-)

I felt a little nitpicky about pointing it out ... but I am a linguistic nanny be instinct (having been trained as a linguist and once been a University lecturer in linguistics) - I just can't hold my tongue.

I heard an interview on the radio today - irrelevant about what - in which one person said today was a 'historical moment' - the presider responded, clearly by uncontrollable reflex, 'historic.'

Think of me as knee-jerk language automaton.

Is it okay if I think of you as a linguistic nanny BY instinct, instead?

:) :) Only teasing.

Touché :-)

I should make clear that I read your blog for the content, not to find typos and misspellings - and I am often greatly helped by the content.
