Why Catholics Shouldn't Vote For Obama

You have to hear this: it's audio of Obama discussing the "burden" of trying to save the life of a child born alive during an abortion (Hat Tip: Kathryn Jean Lopez at The Corner).

The important quote is as follows (unofficial transcript):

"...and that essentially adding an additional doctor who then has to be called in an emergency situation to come in and make these assessments is really designed simply to burden the original decision of the woman and the physician to induce labor and perform an abortion." Barack Obama on the Born Alive Infants Protection Act

Bear in mind the following:

The "emergency situation" is that the child has survived the induction abortion--he or she has emerged from the womb alive despite the efforts taken to kill him or her.

The "assessments" referred to means noting whether the child is still alive.

The "original decision" is the woman's decision to kill her baby.

In other words, the baby, by living, places an undue burden on his or her mother because he or she didn't get the memo and came into the world alive; rather than summon an additional doctor, whisk the baby to the neonatal intensive care unit and try to save his or her life, Obama thinks the abortionist should get to carry out the abortion by neglect after the child has entered the world.

Make no mistake. What this man supports and stands for is evil in its rawest and most diabolical form. Though I recognize that others may disagree, I honestly see no way whatsoever that a Catholic in good conscience could lend his support to someone who so openly, blatantly, coldly and determinedly fought for the "right" of women undergoing an induction abortion to continue the "abortion" and achieve the death of the child after the child's birth.

You think McCain will get us into wars and engage in unjust empire-building? Possibly. But Barack Obama has shown beyond any shadow of a doubt that he has no respect for the intrinsic value of a human life, and it is from such men that dictators are made.

There is a CNN interview my sister posted on our blog, . In it the CNN reporter quotes Mr. Obama saying these words about the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, "....would essentially bar abortions, because the equal protection clause does not allow somebody to kill a child..." March, 30, 2001. It's about 2 minutes 13 seconds into the clip.

See? Sometimes he can be honest, he believes the equal protection clause is problematic in that it does not allow the killing of children!

This just makes me so upset, I get sick to my stomach!

I just wanted to give you the full text of the quote and where to find it.

Sen. Obama: "Number one, whenever we define a previable fetus as a person that is protected by the equal protection clause or the other elements in the Constitution, what we're really saying is, in fact, that they are persons that are entitled to the kinds of protections that would be provided to a -- a child, a nine-month-old -- child that was delivered to term. That determination then, essentially, if it was accepted by a court, would forbid abortions to take place. I mean, it -- it would essentially bar abortions, because the equal protection clause does not allow somebody to kill a child, and if this is a child, then this would be an anti-abortion statute."

He scares me too, Erin. He really does.

Perhaps you've addressed this already in a post, but what do you recommend that we non-political "one-issue" voters do?

I hate politics--they make my head ache--but I hate the though of Obama getting in even more.

I so wish that the other half of this country could see this issue so clearly. It feels so hopeless, but as Christians we must fight to the end. Obama is incredibly evil -- there is no other issue which matters so much as protecting the hundreds of human babies that die every day in this country.

So, in Obama's world (where 9 months gestation is required for equal protection) do preemies have a right to treatment? Or are those extra medical professionals a burden?

Also, if the main definition of "person" is whether some other human being wants them, why is it not OK to randomly murder homeless guys? I mean, obviously noone wants them either, right? And they're not even little and cute!

Good thing Mr. Obama wasn't in the delivery room when our 3-year-old was born at 26 weeks gestation. He might have decided she was "pre-viable" and not "entitled to the kinds of protections" she received -- like oxygen, and IV nutrition, not to mention the heart surgery and the antibiotics and the 90 days in the NICU... May God have mercy on him.

Obama supporters are foolish to think that he will never betray them.
Obama was a close friend of Pastor Wright for TWENTY YEARS.
Obama threw Wright under the bus for personal ambition.
McCain would not betray his country even after 5 years of torture.
You can put lipstick on a traitor, but he's still a traitor.
